WineX can be obtained for free. Just grab the CVS and spend a little time compiling it. For Mandrake:
Open up the software manager and make sure the cvs package is installed, along with the other appropriate development packages (autoconf, automake, gcc, etc.)
Go to transgaming website and find the source download. It will give you some instructions on how to download from CVS.
Once you have the folder containing all the code, go in and run 'wineinstall' (I think) from the tools directory. You can compile as a regular user, but for it to actually install you have to be root. I'd just go root and compile.
Wait a while.
Then, after it's finished, enjoy.
Oh... and only one question mark is needed per sentence. ;)

1) there is a free version of winex, but you have to download it in source form from a cvs.
2) winex is based off of wine, which does the exact same thing and for HL will work perfectly fine. www.winehq.com
