lo,
I have a laptop with w2k on it and I want to put rh 7.1 on it. I have 10 gb free.
when I get to disk druid, the setup complains that "boot patition is greater than 1024 cylinders".
I tried to just partion / and swap after that but the setup continued to complain. any advice?

Also, I want to use the server install of rh so I can play w/ apache and stuff. any problems or "special instructions" with this?

thanks

I have also had this problem before and if you read the fine print
it should tell you that you need the floppy diskette that came with your hard because it is a "Mass Storage Device" so if you reboot the computer with the floppy in there then it should be fine with a large hard drive

Don't remember if RH 7.1 has the latest lilo or grub that fixes the 1024 cyl limit. You should still be able to install linux but the bootloader might not work. As suggested you can create a boot floppy during the install and use that to boot linux. Go download the latest grub or lilo and then you should be able to boot without the floppy disk.
