New install of Mandrake 8.2

Trying to update Netatalk. when I run ./configure it ends with error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH

make command says: command not found

BTW tried to search forums but it keeps coming back to: Search term is under minimum length. Am I missing something here?

that is because you do not have a c compiler installed on your system. install gcc.

This is a known problem since the bbs software was upgraded just over a month ago.

It has been reported and should be fixed one of these days.

Would enclosing in quotes help with the search?

You will also need to install the 'make' utility. Look through the apps (packages) that came with your distro.
