I have HL installed just fine under wineX, and all my openGL stuff is installed correctly (glxgears gives a good 1850fps on my GF2 GTS). When I go into HL, and I go to configuration, and I go to select the "openGL mode" It tells me that it needs to specify some thing or another about my video card on some webpage, and then it just hangs.

I was wondering if any one else had run into this same "glitch" and how they got around it. I installed quake 3 under wineX to see if it worked, and it works like a dream. So... I dunno.

when I run wineX I type:

$ wine hl.exe -- hl.exe --console

What I want to be able to do is get CS to work. I have not installed any of the updates yet. Or have I installed CS yet.

I am running a gentoo 1.2 system with a 1.33ghz t-bird and a Geforce2 GTS.

Thanks.

yeah, i remember getting that. Try upgrading to the newest hl patch, then seeing if you can.

Are you using the nVidia drivers? It might not let you use OpenGL because it is not detecting it...

Get the latest drivers from www.nvidia.com and read the install directions. But basicly...
check your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 and look for Driver "nv" under the video card, change it to "nvidia" after you install the drivers...
