the original AvP isn't listed on the Linux Gamers FAQ
it's a project on icculus.org
Serious Sam (http://icculus.org/cgi-bin/finger/finger.pl?user=icculus&section=ssam) is also coming, but we don't know whether the binaries will be free yet :(

I've been playing UT using Loki's 436installer and it runs great! You can still get it from www.lokigames.com but considering the company folded in January, don't know how long they will be available there (luckly there are tons of mirrors for it)

I've been playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein using Linux binaries (can't remember where to get them, but it's out there :))

Same with Quake3

AvP Gold's source is available and has been re-coded to work on Linux (see prior post) but AvP2 I think might work with WineX from Transgaming.

Plus just looking on the 'net you'll find many open source projects for some great games!

just telling you. AvP2 doesn't work with any free versions of wine. The problem is that it uses SafeDisk 3.0 which has yet to be cracked (check gamecopyworld.com if you don't believe me). I doubt it, but maybe coping over a windows install would work, or using the nonfree wineX.
