Can you share the Cable Internet Connection if the Linux machine is the Server and the Windows 98 is the client. I'll tell you what I have setup right now.

Server Machine:
OS: Windows XP
Ethernet: 2 NICS
NIC 1: Connects to Windows 98 Machine and shares Internet Connection through Internet Sharing Software
NIC 2: Connects to Broadband Internet Connection

Client Machine:
OS: Windows 98
Ethernet: PCI NIC Card
NIC 1: Connects to LAN with Windows XP and uses Internet Sharing Software

WHAT I WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Server Machine:
OS: Linux Mandrake
Ethernet: 2 NICS
NIC 1: Connects to Windows 98 Machine and Shares Broadband Internet Connection
NIC 2: Connects to Broadband Internet Connection

Client Machine:
OS: Windows 98
Ethernet: PCI NIC Card
NIC 1: Connects to Linux Mandrake Machine and shares Internet

IS THIS POSSIBLE?

But what if I connect the 2 computers with a crossover cable and not through a HUB or Router? Will that still work?

Sorry for interrupting this but,

Walker, first read then ask as the great guru would say. On the network configuration there is an option of internet sharing. the main idea is to set the windows box gateway to the linux box (i.e 192.168.0.1)

conclusion:

Linux: nic 1 - connected to the cable
nic 2 - IP 192.168.0.1 mask 255.255.255.0
Internet Sharing

Windows: nic 1 - IP 192.168.0.2 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1

yep it works, I'm on such a network at this very moment. And this is quite easy to do with mandrake (check on your control center -> Internet & networking -> internet sharing and then the settings on the post above)
