My linux 8.1 won't mount cd's when I put them in the drive, I can open and close them without trouble, they just won't mount. Yet, I can download packages from the installation disk, I am at a loss.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Please throw me a bone, i'm starvin' here !!

Create a shortcut to /dev/cdrom on desktop. Right-click it> mount.
Or you
cat /etc/fstab
and we'll see.

That's 3 crossposts of this question I've run across so far.
How many forums did you post this question in.
Tricky though as you change the Topic and content on everyone. Still the same question though.
Intentional isn't it?
Certainly no help from me...

MDWATTS: What is the problem with posting multiple threads ?
The way I see it, the more bait you throw out, the more bites you get. You have bitten more than anyone. Surely you were a uumm junior weedhopper at one time.
So please, don't condemn me for being the new kid on the block.

See my explaination in your thread in General.
The way I see it, the more bait you throw out, the more bites you get.
Sound kinda greedy to me.
What about the other members here that are waiting for replies?
Should they all wait until we all attend to your multiple crossposts?
You take ALL the resources and just let everyone else wait...

I only have a problem with those that crosspost and when pointed out the fact that crossposting is frowned upon at any site, they still believe it should be allowed.
What would happen if everyone crossposted? What a mess that would be.
Yes you want help, the same as everyone else that posts questions here. I just like to see it fair to all.
And yes I was a junior grasshopper when I first started here. BUT I have yet to actually post a question in these forums. After 15,000 posts I have never posted a question. Only answered...

MDWATTS: I really had no idea crossposting was so frowned upon. Once again I apologize. I hope you can accept my apology.
I normally figure things out on my own, but this situation forced me to seek advice, I'm sure you understand that.
All I ask is, you don't condemn me for being a newbie.

No need to apologize to me.
Those are just the unwritten rules we all try to abide by. Netiquette...
I'm not trying to be a jerk or single any particular member out. I just want to see everyone get the same fair chance to have their questions answered. No more and no less.
