Hey Guys,

Netatalk is a protocol that let Macintoshes see a linux box.......works kinda like Samba.

Hopefully, someone out there has experience with netatalk and can help me out...

My problem is that our linux box running Netatalk doesn't show up in the chooser....we can connect to it though by typing in the IP address (doing it the manual way)......so I know everything is working....except for it showing up in the chooser....

Is there some daemon I have to run?? is there something I didn't enable.??...help!!

Thanks in advance...

I had the same problem.
This fixed it:

From the Apple Menu, I selected Control Panels > Apple Talk and changed it from printer port to Ethernet.
Not sure if you need to restart after that.

Did you get printing to work?
I'm using Redhat 8.0 and the printer never shows up.

I got Netatalk working about 6 months ago.....that an old post!!!

I haven't tried printing, but I'm sure it works. I actually might be setting up another linux box pretty soon running Netatalk!! Lots of fun!!

There's a process to get Netatalk working properly.....I forget right at the moment, because the last time I started it was like 6 months ago....and been running strong ever since! You have to start AFPD first and then ATALK in the /netatalk/etc directory....I think....or its the other way around....just switch the 2...if that doesn't work.

Cheers!
