First time user running Mandrake 8.1 distro. Installed on a hp lxr pro running 4 ppro 200/1mg cpu's. The problem is I can only see 2 cpus running in mandrake. How do i enable the other 2 ?

I did a google search and believe it or not I didn’t find anything useful.

I would recommend getting the latest Kernel (http://www.kernel.org) and compiling it your self. I don't use mandrake, but I believe it also uses a RPM type install of the kernel.

By compiling it you should be able to configure and update the kernel and see all 8 CPU's.

Hope this helps!

Did you tell your boot manager to load a kernel that supports SMP? Mandrake should have one that does support SMP so just install it and tell it's location to the boot manager.

This would indacate that he is running the SMP kernel.

I think SuperHornet would be right. I am seeing 2 of the processors, but not the 4 that are running in the machine. The bios reports 4 and also the bios list 4 on boot. I need help to enable the other 2.

Thanks
