I'm using KDE on Red Hat Linux 7.3, and I'm completely new to Linux.
I'm surprised and confused by how much of my 192mb of memory is being used, right from the point where X Window starts. Also, this seems to change at random... I could leave my computer alone for a while, running nothing but Gaim, come back, and the amount of memory being used is much lower. Later my memory will be nearly exhausted, again. I thought Linux was famous for its ability to flawlessly run on systems with small amounts of memory? I figure 192mb is plenty, just to run X Windows. Is this normal? If not, then I'd be glad to gather information (with some instruction) that could help someone help me.
Thanks.
