depends on the browser you are using, if it is Mozilla there is a hidden directory in your /home/*username directory named .mozilla with a dot infront of the name, most all hidden files have a dot infron of the name, look inside this .mozilla directory for a another directory named cache, you can just delete this cache directory and all, and the next time you launch mozilla it will recreate the cache directory for you...

Don't apologise for being a noobie - we all are/were at some point or another. This is a great forum and I have learnt so much from the folk here. There will be times when you'll ask questions that seem dumb in retrospect, but when you don't know something - then the only dumb thing is to not ask the question!!!

Just to follow up on the responses regarding the cache and temp internet files. I asked a similar question a while back, and it really does depend on the browser you are using. Many will have their own menu options to flush the cache or delete cookies and the like. You might have to read the docs on that browser. Also, and I find that I'm recommending this quite a lot because I am impressed with it, try using Opera (the freebie version). It is fast, stable, and allows you to flush everything when you're done surfing: great for saving space and for privacy.
