Thanks! I use grub, however you gave me an idea, and even though I still can't solve my problem, I was able to start the network, than samba, and I saved all the info I needed, so now i can just reinstal Redhat and I will be again where i started. I know it is crude but it is working for me as I need the experience anyway... :-) So I appreciate the help...

You will learn more if you use rescue and fix your mistakes.
Of course, I have done many unnecessary installs as well....

You must be able to boot into single user mode from grub. Try running
boot: linux single

Yes, I thought of that. That was the idea... however I still could not find the mistake and given that I'm a beginer, the fastest and simplest solution was to save anything that was important data and reinstall the system, which I just did. Now everything works perfectly again, so I can get back to the mysteries of samba and security... (and of course messing up my system with something again.)
Non the less, your suggestions jumpstarted me, and forced me to do some "command line" networking including starting up the netwok card and samba which further improved my knowledge. So I deeply appreciate the help.
Thank You.
I wish I had guys like you to talk to on a daily basis.
