It has been almost a year since I touched linux and I just installed RH7.3 and have to saw that I like it better that the last RH I tried 6.0. But I have d/l and installed (through tar.gz's if it matters) and can't get it to start. I installed it in the /usr/local directory. I have tried to make the file .xinitrc and add exec enlightenment but get error /home/missy/.xinitrc: exec: enlightenment: not found. I remember having this happen before but for nothing can I remember what it is and I didn't write it down (will this time). I checked in Gnome and it isn't there, needs to be added. I finally found the place to change it in KDE and it isn't there either. A little help please :o

Try switchdesk enlightenment in an xterm and see if it will switch.

That actually gave me ERROR: Enlightenment int installed. When I did a which enlightenment it said not found but it also gave all the paths it checked and none of them were correct. Which file do I need to edit to tell it where it is installed? I tried moving the enlightenment-0.16.5 directory to /usr/local/bin (one listed in the which response) and it still said not found. I can uninstall and reinstall if needed but where does it need to be untarred at?

i do not believe Redhat included Enlightenment with 7.3

which has me peeved about Redhat, now all they include is Gnome,KDE, WindowMaker, & FVWM & TWM (((YUCK for the last two)))

if Rehdat keeps making the choice of window managers shorter & shorter their next version will probably a M$ Windoze equivelent in Linux, and i will drop Redhat off my computer like a hot potato, and start using another distro...

TWM? Thats the worst piece of junk I've ever used. I have been Enlightened! I'd just go download the RPMs for it from either RPMFind or enlightenment.org. Your pick.

I got it. I just searched for the fnlib in rpm then reinstalled enlightenment with rpm and it works. Now to be able to configure it?????

I d/l and installed the enlightenment-conf and still can't get to the configuration box from Gnome. Tried changing the .xinitrc to just use enlightenment and still no opton for configuring. I can change themes but don't get the normal config screen allowing the change of hot keys and backgrounds and stuff. Any ideas? Am I still missing some files?
