I just installed Mandrake 8.2.
This is my first experience with Linux.
So I'm a big phat newb when it comes to linux.

I face problems connecting to the net.

When I dial the ISP number the Moden LED lights up once and then goes dead and it says NOt able to connect to the internet.

Where do I see the setings for the modem?

Now I seem to be facing HardDrake problems.

When I launch HardDrake a Console appears and there is no activity in my PC.
The HDD LED doesnt light up nor do any of the modem's.
Is the Hardware detection going? on or has the program crashed?

Also::

How do I install drivers?
I downloaded the latest ones from Nvidia.com for my GeForce 4 MX.
I downloaded a .586 file.
Where should i run/copy it?

Help needed?

Hmm, that seems to happen to many...

HardDrake hasn't crashed, it's probably just thrown you into another virtual console, and you can get back to X by Ctrl+Alt+F7 (or some other F key). Maybe it's just a bug in HardDrake.

If HardDrake has'nt crashed then How do I know whether It has detected any of my hardware?

Ctrl+Alt+Del works though in rebooting the system.

Is there a program in Mandrake 8.2 which will show me my hardware list like the device manager in windows?

I'm still facing those Modem problems.
and...(a noob question again)

Where can I find a dialer to check if my modem can dial a number?
