OK, I'm looking for the WIndow Manager that fits me. Here's what I've tried:

KDE3
GNOME1.4
Sawfish
TWM
Window Maker
IceWM
FVWM2
XFce
MWM

I like MWM, but I want to try some more, preferably with a very sleek, minimalistic interface.

I notice you don't have blackbox, fluxbox, or enlightenment listed ;) Try these, they are probably the 3 best around (with enlightenment being the best IMHO)

Doh. I've left a few out. Forgot Blackbox and Enlightenment. I didn't like Blackbox that much, but Enlightenment is OK.

 Fluxbox

It has the slit and tabbed windows.

Waimea is pretty good though needs some configuration.

If you're looking for slick and minimal at the same time, you really should be giving fluxbox (or blackbox) and enlightenment a try.

Ummm... Blackbox invented the slit, and has always had it.

Can you be a little more specific of what features you want?

Blackbox did invent the slit, but does it have tabs too?! Ha! :p

Lots of people here seem to be Fluxbox fans (me included) so really that's the most likely recommendation you're going to get whenever you ask for a WM.

I've discovered the wonders of  Enlightenment  . Very nice, once you set it up. Sleek and minimalistic, what I'm looking for!

I'm still going to hunt for some more simplistic ones, but I want ones that are easy to configure (no, hunting around for config files isn't easy. Config files are) and maintain. Enlightenment for now, it seems!

No, thank god.

The tabs for fluxbox just didn't do it for me. I guess it's just the way I have my windows laid out. I've never really had a need for it. :)

That's the first time I've seen the words "Enlightenment" and "minimalistic" together. Very weird. Pigs should be flying now.

I'm a Blackbox dude. Tabs are useless for me as well and the other features of Fluxbox don't appeal to me.

Enlightenment is fairly minimalistic on my hardware, mostly because it was high-end stuff about a year ago. Couldn't be beat then. Now, its more than a gigahertz slower than the latest Intel stuff, but only 400mhz slower than the AMD offerings. I also have an nVidia card backing it up.

And, I really don't like the feel of blackbox. I want to try Metacity, but the packages don't want to compile, and I can't find it on Red Carpet.

Oh, should I try GNOME 2? Its available from Red Carpet SuSE now.

You could try ion or larswm.

both are pretty minmalistic.

Ion is keyboard based with frames.

Larswm has a task bar, and does some very interesting things with active and inactive windows.
