I have tried to install both 1.1 & 3.3 and neither have let me install to Debian ... It keeps saying that the eth0 is not installed.
ifconfig eth0 up #no device

do you know what kind of ethernet card you have? The first thing you will have to do is find that out and get the module loaded for it.

It is LNE100tx_v5 NIC which is a general card I thought and part of the problems is just getting to get eth0 up...

i think that uses the tulip driver so give that a try. Unfortunately it escapes me right now what command to use to set your network card up.

I have a linksys LNE100tx_v5 just a standard card I thought

after a cursor search on google it seem that you will have to use the tulip driver.

you can look at these (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=LNE100tx) search results for confirmation.
