I had a problem when installing Mandrake on my box, that I solved by running install with the "linux ide=nodma" switch. I thought about trying redhat, but it fails when trying to start anaconda. I get the feeling, that its the same type of problem ... just a feeling though. "Linux ide=nodma" didn't work with redhat, and I was wondering if certain install switches are the same across distro's?

Well something like "ide=nodma" is a lilo switch so it's totally independent of distro. What errors are you getting with the RedHat install?

First, thank you for the help.
When I boot from CD, everything seems to work fine until I get to the point where it says that its starting anaconda. This of course is very early into the install. At that point it fails and says its OK to reboot my machine. I would be more exact, but I'm at work and the machine is at home.
I will say that this has happened before, and what I did to install it, was to bring a CDR home from work ... old style 16 speed, and used that to install it with no problems. Its almost like Linux doesn't like my "plain Jane" 48X Acer CDR. I suppose I could do the same thing, but it would be nice to use my CD vs the company's CD.
