Heh, try this in single player.
Start up the console (shift ~), type in "HelpUsObi 1" to activate cheats, then "npc spawn botname"

You can type in any of the names for bots. I played the final battle with Desann, this time with 10 Lukes, 10 Reborn, a bunch of Shadowtroopers, some stormtroopers, Jan, and Lando, guns and sabers blazing.

My computer was slow as hell, but it looked like a scene from the Attack of The Clones trailer :D

Well, I'm still in the swamps, so I havn't faced Desann yet, other then that first time, which doesn't really count!

Yeah, Rebel Dream was one of the best NJO books, but way to short, and I'm hearing conflicting rumors on when Rebel Stand will be out. May or August. Don't really want to wait till august. I think Star by Star is the only recent one that actually took a few days to read.

The Yavin swamp was sooo slow. My puny P3 650 can't handle all those veggies. I had to turn 32 bit color down :( I don't like doing that. mandeepLINUX and RedHeadLINUX...RageAHolix hasn't been reading any Star Wars books. I've been pretty much totally and completely broke for the last few months and just recently scored a job (no need to discuss what I'm doing).

Also...I've soured on the NJO books. I read Vector Prime which was okay...but for the most part, I pretty much have absolutely no interest in reading any further.

In fact, I've soured so much on NJO that I don't think that I can un-sour...and sweetening is definitely out of the question.

I'm thinking about re-reading the Black Fleet Trilogy..that one was pretty good. I re-read Tales of the Bounty Hunters and Tales from Jabba's palace regularly...I guess that I prefer the older ones to today's. Like I LOVED the whole x-wing series (the Aaron Allston ones in particular...didn't much go for the hole Corran Horn thing).

I was crusing on p2p and found a hilarious SNL skit. It's Star Wars auditions w/ Kevin Spacey (one of my favs) playing Christopher Walken (one of my favs) auditioning for Han Solo...LMFAO funny man...way funny. The Richard Dreyfus as Threepio part...not too funny...then Spacey does Walter Mathau auditioning for Obi-Wan...it's GOLD Jerry...GOLD.

I haven't been able to play Jedi Knights II yet...I've got WineX 2.0...but the installation explodes and pretty much borks my entire system...haven't found a way around that yet. I mean I could install it in 2K...but I guess that I'm becoming a masochist :D

Not that I'm bashing the X-box...but what was the impetus for buying the X-box over say...the PS2 or GameCube? Was it hardware stuff? or potential titles? I don't know anyone with an X-box so I don't have anyone to ask why they chose that over the others (I have asked the others why they chose the PS2 over X-box and GameCube).

I just traded my PSX for a GF2 Pro...so shows about how into consoles I am :)

I was a WalMart last night. They were selloing the Xbox for the same price as the PS2. WalMart is dumping theirs it looks like
they had PS2's piled up on the tops of the Displays and lots of titles.. XBox didn't have poo. They don't move fast enough so WallyWold is dumping them at a loss it appears.

I picked a Box instead of a PS2 or Gamecube because of the hardware. A GeForce 3, 8 gig HD, ethernet, etc. The way I see it, the Xbox comes with a 8 gig HD for free, while the PS2 requires you to spend $140 to add 32 un-needed extra gigs through a USB 1.1 connection. :)

Ok, despite the whole Microsoft thing, I like my Xbox. The hardware gives tons of potential for great looking, and fun games. Now, that potential may not get to be used, but I can hope, right? The 2002-03 lineup has a lot of games that look like they'll be fun, and be great looking.

Being primarily a PC gamer, the box fits in well as a backup game system to use when someone else is on the game PC. I'm old enough that the original controller fits perfectly, and you have to admit, it's perfect for shooter games like Halo. I can always buy a smaller controller for my younger relatives, so I'm not stuck with one tiny controller. Isn't that nice? One size dosen't fit all.

I like the games I've got so far: Halo is a blast in multiplayer, and the single player game was great. Munch's Oddysee was a fun puzzle game, with lots of funny moments. Gunvalkyrie is a little tough to get used to, but I'm already seeing what I could do if I master the controls. The games that have been ported to it, like Tony Hawk 2x and Starfighter SE, do look a degree better than their counterparts, and these versions do have a couple of extra goodies. Besides, I get volumetric grass in TH2x! :D ;)

I do hope Microsoft dosen't dominate this industry also (it won't) but I think my investment (in buying the box) will be worth it, more so if it dosen't die early like the Dreamcast.

I have branched out before and read classics such as Dune mandeep...no where in my post did I say that I read only Star Wars books...I was simply saying that recent Star Wars books did poop-all for me.

Heinlein is my fav...Door into Summer, Stranger in a Strange land, Starship troopers, Puppet Masters, the Moon is a Harsh Mistress...awesome. Door into Summer was my fav though...revenge is a dish best served "all you can eat" baby!!!!

and yeah...X-box totally makes sense from a hardware side of things...the PS2 is pretty cool...but those add-on peripherals (to make it the hardware equivalent of the X-box) are pretty $$$ I imagine.

I played some Jedi Knights 2 last night...pretty neat game. I was like: I want my force powers and light saber now damnit...I want my immediate gratification...and I WANT IT NOW!!! I guess that it was a "luke on dagobah"-type situation :D

Yeah, it takes a little while before you get force powers in Jedi Outcast, but once you start getting them, you'll get a bunch right away, unlike Jedi Knight 1 where you would get one force power and have to wait for the next one etc... Once you get to level three force powers it's pretty cool. You can jump so high it's almost like flying, and a lot of fun. Not to mention you can choke people to death, and use force lightening, just like any good Sith Lord! :)

it took me a while to figure out that after you destroy the shield generator on desann's ship that the gravity dies. i thought the weird sliding around **** was a bug, and i started over fighting galak three times to try and unfudge it :o

and when you get your speed up to level 3 it kinda sucks, cuz your movement feels chunky and slow when you have speed on.

and i think i kinda suck, those evil jedi dudes kick my *** a lot :/ but it's really cool to just kinda stroll into a room fulla troopers and mow them down without getting a scratch :D

LOL! I took me forever to figure out how to beat galak. And I kept accidently hitting the quicksave key when I didn't have any ammo, or shields. Once I finally figured out how to beat him, it wasn't that hard.

Which jedi's are you losing to? The Reborn or the Shadow dudes. A hint on those guys, if they fall from heights they die. I probably beat almost half of the shadow ones by knocking them off of walks, cliffs etc.

uhh, which are which? the robot/mech looking dudes do not seem to die from heights, i knocked one all the way down from the entrance up the cliff after you leave the atst, and he jumped ALL THE WAY BACK UP. i think i've knocked a few of the human ones around though. i've found SOMETIMES you can throw your light saber while you've got someone in the grip. maybe it's a bug. i mostly try to knock them to the floor when they jump, and them pounce on them.

what i really need to do is practice using the damn lightsaber; it's getting harder to just swing madly and hope you don't die :P i am proud to say i've hardly used another weapon since i got it though, guns are for sissies, except when you get a chance to snipe someone[thing], or drop a couple trip mines.

I don't own an Xbox (http://www.microsoft.com/xbox/) but I do play Halo whenever my friend brings it over. The "Hang 'Em High" level is my favorite.

Yeah, it takes a little while before you get force powers in Jedi Outcast, but once you start getting them, you'll get a bunch right away, unlike Jedi Knight 1 where you would get one force power and have to wait for the next one etc... Once you get to level three force powers it's pretty cool. You can jump so high it's almost like flying, and a lot of fun. Not to mention you can choke people to death, and use force lightening, just like any good Sith Lord! :)</STRONG>

I dunno...I was so disappointed in Ep I that I saw no hope (note: not "a new hope) in Ep II. However the trailers thusfar have indeed been tantalizing. I am going to have to wait until reliable sources see it first...once those sources' verdicts are in...I will make a decision. 13.25$ Canadian is a helluva lot to waste on a movie (that's like .25$ USD to you americans ;) ).

I'm in the Mine level now. I've gotta say...not a big fan of this game. It's like a crappy ripoff of Half-Life, but with token lightsabers and force powers to appease the masses. Now mind you, I haven't got the lightsaber and force powers yet...but so far the gameplay has been boring, predictable and frankly a waste of HDD space. I dislike it so much...that I don't think that lightsabers and force mumbo-jumbo will make it any more playable (though I reserve the right to be completely wrong).

The death animations? Really crappy ripoff of Max Payne death animations. Is there a way to skip through those tedious cutscenes?
I've been trying to skip them but to no avail.

I dunno..I only played Dark Forces a few times and haven't played a Star Wars FPS other than those few times. Perhaps JK II is an improvement over DF and JK...but that can't be saying too much. Being new to the Star Wars FPS scene...JK II is a real disappointment. I'm going to plod through this ridiculous game with the hope that it may get better.

To summarize: I think that Ep II may be good...but I'm not getting my hopes up just to get them dashed (dash rendar tie in there...anyone get it besides redhead?) again.

Jedi Knights II has been sucking some hairy, sweaty, jedi council buttocks...not that you guys care what I think...this whole post was mostly for 11000.

I kinda feel the same way about Ep II, I think it looks like it could be good, and the one report I heard by someone who's supposedly seen it, says it's good, however, I'm trying not to get too excited, or expect too much. Of course, if they happen to kill off Jar Jar it'll be worth it! :)

What kind of a graphics card do you have? Because if nothing else JKII is worth it for the graphics! Of course, I had to upgrade my graphics card to take advantage of the graphics, and could still use some more ram, and processing power. As far as the story, I think it does get much better(or at least more fun) after you get force powers, and if nothing else, the ability to chop up stormies with a lightsaber is worth it.

As far as being a rip-off of Half-Life, I like it a lot better then half-life. I never even bothered to finish half life, I only play it in multiplayer these days.

The guys I'm talking about are the ones that have lightsabers and some force powers, dressed all in the black cortosis stuff. The first ones you face are in that round room, with all the weird sort of ledges coming out of the wall, if you go up to the highest and knock them off while you're fighting them, they die. And I've been able to do it in a couple other places.

I try to only use the lightsaber as well(unless I'm sniping), and am getting used to switching between styles, it's much more fun then using guns! Of course, now that I have level three grip and lightening, I've been using that a lot too! :)

I'm using a GF2 Pro 32MB DDR...I just happen to think that the graphics are not all that great and it's not worth it just for the graphics.

Nor is it worth it for the lightsaber action (again...I can't see how that can make this seemingly lame game any better...but I'll see if I'm able to plod through it until then). Half-Life was the penultimate game for me (the first game I ever really played). The only Star Wars game that I've enjoyed was Tie Fighter...now that was a wicked-good game. I played Galactic Battlegrounds as the Empire for a few rounds just to stomp the Gungan into oblivion...then I uninstalled it.

The game may not be Half-Life, but try to pass over its faults and enjoy the good parts. Saber combat with a roomfull of Reborn is fun. At least for me. Every FPS since HL has borrowed some gameplay elements from it, but I don't think of JK2 as being a rip-off.

If you liked TIE, you might want to play X-Wing Alliance. The ending kinda sucked, but it was a fun game despite that. And I know I could beat you or anybody else on the boards in that game. It's the one thing I'm good at. :rolleyes:

EWO - The game is messed up. Everytime I wanna play Halo deathmatch, my cousins would rather play that corkscrew game in Fusion Frenzy... I think they're tired of the 25:5 kill ratio I get in Halo. Maybe I should go easy on them? Blood Gulch is my favorite DM map.

Also, as far as it being a rip-off of half-life I think the original Dark Forces I was released before Half-Life. And the Jedi Knight games have been continuations of that story line.

I'm glad they are enjoying it 11000...but that doesn't mean a whole lot to me as I don't agree with them.

IMO I'm looking at it from a gaming standpoint and I've played a number of the recent, big releases and I don't consider JK II that great compared to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, MoH: AA, hell...even Voyager: ELite Force (which is not all that recent). I found all of those games FUN to play...sure they all have a certain amount of absurdity and tedium but from a gameplay point of view...very fun.

Ok, I apologize. I'm just confused because everyone else I've talked to loves the game. I'm sure there's other people that hate it, I just havn't talked to any of them. So since I didn't know anyone else that didn't like, much less hate it as passionately as you do, I just assumed that the fact that you seem to dislike most of the new star wars stuff, might be a part of it. Obviously, I should know better then to assume anything! And I came across a little to strongly. You've stumbled across the Taint *ominous thunder*

All RageAHolics (there might be more than one) are able to 'taint' an otherwise good thing that's subconciously related to a bad thing. I don't think that JK II is tainted by Star Wars...it's just plain, vanilla, un-fun for me. Ep II however has a partial taint due to Ep I...and Ep I has also cast a taint over all previous Eps (that one isn't too solid...but it is there).

And I tip my hat 11000...we've never had a fight and I don't intend to ever pick one with you. I'm glad that we can respect each other :)

I wish that the people I play with would go easy on me! I usually end up with the least kills and the most deaths. My problem is shooting while I'm moving (running, walking). I get all frantic and start to shoot all over the place. I also get sniped alot too.

The first time I picked up the Xbox controller to play Halo, I was kinda surprised at how easy it was for me to move around and aim. The only console FPS I've played before was Goldeneye, and I had some trouble with that.

If you can get through most of the single player game, you'll do better in DM. It shouldn't be too hard to move and shoot at the same time. If you're just running towards someone, you could just stop for a second to aim/fire. If you're trying to strafe, I gues you'll just need to practice in SP.

One thing I like about mulitplayer on a tv is that you can see what the other players are looking at... My cousins hate me for it, but when they're trying to snipe me, I combine the direction of the sniper trail in my view with the data on their view, and figure out their exact location. I take them out with a rocket or sniper rifle before they can move. :D

I wish they were all here now. :( Little sisters are no good for Halo.

Well I got my force powers and my lightsaber...I'm so bored that I'm mostly "noclip"ing through Nar Shadaa and I'm probably not going to finish the game.

The lightsaber and the tumbling/rolling is kinda neat...but the force powers are pretty poorly integrated. You aim the cross-hair at something and it lights up: "oh golly jeez, I guess I have to push or pull this box" :rolleyes:

I will also say that Nar Shadaa (in some parts) is an amazing map..I seriously had vertigo and I felt really freaked out by being up high on some ledges.

When I start cheating in a game (I almost NEVER cheat)...it's a sign to me that the game just isn't right for me.

So despite ancient weapons and hokey religions...not even a good blaster could make me enjoy this one.

If you like the game...more power to you. This is a non-tainted-rage-doesn't-like-it scenario :)

Actually, I'm a Liverpool fan - not really Scottish you see. And (even if I do say so myself) the quality of the football is better south of the border. But I do have a soft spot for Partick Thistle (the 'other' Glasgow team) who have just got promoted back to the Premier League.

I agree about the quality being a little more in the EPL... I am more of a leeds fan myself. Too bad about them sucking this year. Liverpool came close this year, but I don't really think they had a chance with ManU and The Gunners playing as they have this year. I am just happy the ManU will (hopefully) not win this year, thanks to a bad run at the beginning of the season.
