Is this a good deal?

--DEAL--
Compaq Server, 166MMX, 32MB Ram, 2,1GB Hard Disks
Redhat Linux 6.2 & Webmin
5 GB of monthly transfer
Full online UPS backup
The root password.
One IP address
Web, FTP, Mail, DNS, News, Database, etc. server software comes with Red Hat Linux and is installed on the system.
Although the servers are low powered, they are capable of hosting around 400 web sites efficiently, and around 250,000 hits per day.
How long will it take to activate my account?
--END--

Is this monthly transfer low?

I would be using this to host multiple domains. How much could each domain transfer monthly at this rate?

I also want to be able to offer domain hosting where users can ftp their accounts and administer by web, real time. How hard to set up?

Webmin means I can do pretty much all of the configuration through my web browser? What are other options for accessing server remotely?

I find Webmin to be quite handy for configuring just about anything on your system. Lots of 3rd party modules also available at www.webmin.com/webmin. (http://www.webmin.com/webmin.) You can also use Telnet, SSH, VNC among others to remotely manage your system. SSH is preferred over Telnet as it is more secure.

Well, that's not very much information. For one thing, you didn't mention a price.

5GB of transfer per month. Figure out, on average, how much the average visitor will pull from your site. If you're going to have 20MB of stuff on your site, and you think most visitors will actually look at most of it, then go ahead and assume 20MB per visitor. 5GB is 5120MB, which means you could only have 256 visitors in a month. However, if you think the average visitor is only going to pull 200KB from your site, that's over 25,000 visitors per month.

Of course, most hosts won't shut you down if you go above your bandwidth limit... they'll just send you a nice fat bill at the end of the month.

You also don't mention the host's connection to the Internet. That's the most important thing. Go with a host you can actually find substantial information about. There are sites with reviews of web hosts, take a look at some of those.

The connection is 128K burstable to 1MB?
