I have a old gateway 2000 computer (its down right now waiting for a video card) but it is a 75Mhz Pentium with 40MB Ram a 1gb hard drive but with plenty room to add new stuff (harddrives and possably more ram) I want to turn this computer into a low trafic web server using a fast DSL connection to the net. what extra hardware (faster processor, cards) would i need and what software would i need. I want to host the site and use CGI (python and perl) e-mail server and possably php pages and anything else you guys can think of that i could use. so anyway what software and hardware would i need to do this? thanks guys.

2 nics, maybe a little more ram and a faster processor wouldn't hurt.
For low traffic, it could do as is.
Why not give it a try before you invest money into a outdated system?

software, well, if yer running linux like it should be, use Apache (http://httpd.apache.org), get PHP (http://php.net) for scripting, and you should be set. thats what i run, except different hardware.
