Hello all, I've got a Linux based firewall, protecting a Windoz network. I'm recieving massive brodcast blocks from my internal network, heres a sample:

Aug 16 13:10:11 192.168.xxx.xxx FILTER: Remote access filter blocks: UDP bcast xl0 [192.168.xxx.xxx/5500]->[255.255.255.255/5500] l=28.

I'm wondering if anyone knows what port 5500 is for and what it's trying to broadcast? Also if there's a way to turn it off or disable it. Most of the clients are W2k pro.

any ideas?

Cheers,
Scully

does anyone know what this fcp-addr-srvr1 is or what it's for??? I've tried a couple of search's to no avail...... Anyone know how to stop my window's 2000 systems from broadcasting out to this udp port??

Thanks for any input,
Cheers,

I know the Hotline program uses 5500. Does that ring a bell?

Of course, the service commonly associated with a port doesn't mean anything per se -- any service can run on any port. The "commonly used ports" lists are either standards or guidelines, but not facts.
