mysql install error

[killerasp]

after running configure, make, and make install, i went into the scripts dir and tried to install mysql, but im getting this error

[root@localhost scripts]#mysql_install_db.sh
./mysql_install_db.sh: my_print_defaults: command not found
Didn't find @libexecdir@/mysqld
You should do a 'make install' before executing this script
