Hello
I put up my own dialin server (RH 6.2).
I can dialin with M$ (haven`t figured out Linux yet) ,via Hyperterminal.
So far so good.
I`ve got Josh Gentry`s Guide and several others here in front of me,but there`s one thing (I guess it is THE whole idea) I don`t understand.

I have one phone line with one modem at home.
From whereever ,I`m calling my home- phonenumber.
Now, I`m using this one phoneline .
What`s the point of using ppp NOW,considering that my modem is busy already ????

Is it to use ppp for using a SECOND modem (connected to the same box) to dial into an ISP or into another private network ??

Someone can clear haze inside my brain ???

Ray.

I use it to dial into the network at work. (via MS ppp or FreeBSD) Although in your case it might not seem useful unless, like you said, you had a second modem [or cable/dsl] to connection back out to the world.
