I can't get my eth0 to pull an IP address! It's DHCP. I got the module loaded for it, but I can't get it to pull an IP address. it's eth0. I ran "ifup eth0", but it just said "Operation failed.". I then ran "ifconfig -i eth0 up". That brought up the interface, but I can't get it to pull an IP address.

I use pump as my DHCP client. The network cables and everything are fine. All other systems on the network can pull IP addresses just fine.

Pleas help me. This is my main mail server, DNS server, and web server. This system can NOT be down long!

my e-mail is chrisbear@chartertn.net (cmiller@compuville.net once I get my server back up).

Thanks,

May I suggest not using DHCP for servers?

Sorry, I cannot help you because I only use Linux for servers, and they are never DHCP.

yeah, can't you just assign it an ipaddress, keep it static.

I don't know what else to tell you. I don't know why your NIC isn't getting an addy.

What's changed since it worked last.

I don't want to use dynamic for my server, but my ISP doesn't allow static IP addresses. Nothing has changed since last time.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood you. So the other systems on the network are getting external ip's from the same place you are.

what does it say in /etc/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-eth0.info??
