Slackware 8.0 with apache and php

I'm running apache on a slackware 8.0 machine with apache running.

I need to install PHP and MySQL..

My question is, should I follow the NHF for this, or can I just comment out some things in the httpd.conf and be up and running?

I heard somewhere that PHP and MySQL are automatically installed with the default full installation of Slack 8.0, just wondering if that's true.
