Im trying to get a madcatz pantherxl working in redhat 7.2 ,

I have found native support for it in the kernel. The modules name is a3d .

I compiled the kernel with joystick support and sounblaster live gameport support into the kernel and built the panther as a module in case he changes joystick.

OK so far ok

insmod a3d
loads module ok

The controller and buttons all work BUT the track ball does nothing. I did read were someone says the trakball acts as a usb mouse but i have usb support compiled and even tried a usb mouse and it worked

I need some ideas please

Hey CLOSER, this is a link to an article I posted a few months ago. It should help you out with your joystick problems. I dont know what version of the joystick driver (if any) RH7.2 has on it, but you can download it here. http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~vojtech/joystick/

It lists the MadCatz Panther XL as working with the driver at the link. So you should be good. Just download the driver and untar and compile it, then follow the instaructions on my post below and you should be running with a gamepad in a matter of minutes. Happy gaming!
