Quake on RH 6.2

Hello, I am having a problem runnig quake2 in RH 6.2, i get a noise from the sound card, then i get these errors;

couldn't exec default.cfg
couldn't exec config.cfg
-----sound initialization ----
sound sampling rate 11025
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

"Any Ideas" ??

Seems that your config files are not being found/read try copying them off the disk and make sure the permissions are correct (as in the user you are running this as can read and possibly write to them.

Also make sure sound is working correctly, since it seg faults right after sound init.

Thank you for your responses. Sound at the present time sounds beautiful. I also tested it with other games. Also, the version I am installing is the free download version. And it is compressed so I cant recopy those specific files. I do believe part of the problem lies in the initialization of the sound for playback though. In the meantime I will be continuing to surf the Web for a solution.
