Ok I installed UT on my redhat linux 7.1 system. However it looks crappy in 16 bit color. So when I go to the options in game it only has the color depth that X-Windows is using...So If I change to 32 bit color X then thats the only option I have. If I force it to run in 32 bit color when Im in 16 bit color it crashes before it starts.. Is there any way to fix this? I installed the latest patch etc. Other games(Quake3) let me choose 16 or 32 bit color fine no matter what depth Im running in X.

what video card do you have? some games also depend on 16 or 32 bit from in the game and not from the desktop

The problem is, Q3 has been lying to you and UT is a little smarter than that. When you switch between 16bit & 32bit in Q3 guess what happens. Nothing. It uses whatever the desktop color depth is. UT is a little smarter in that is won't let you select what you can't have.
