Hi all,

This is the problem I'm having: I just installed Mandrake 8.0, and everything runs great; it found my voodoo3 and I selected the use acceleration option when I configured X, so that's configured correctly as far as I know. I try to run Quake and it switches to 640x480, then switches back to my default resolution of 1152 and then it kills X completely. Any ideas? I ran quake3 >& log and then looked at the log and here's what it dies on:

Using XFree86-VidModeExtension Version 2.0
XF86DGA Mouse (Version 2.0) initialized
XFree86-VidModeExtension Activated at 640x480

and then it craps out.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Does you XF86Config file have a 640x480 resolution defined? Likely that is the problem.

Yes, my XF86Config does have 640x480, and I made sure I had Mesa installed. I also got some of those opengl demos from Mesa, and they run perfectly. They say that I get 70 fps when I run them. I don't know what's going on.
