Hi all!
i'm very new to Linux and I installed UnrealTournament Version 436. The installation was without any problems, but I cannot start it.
Thats the message i get:

...
Failed to load 'Entry': Can't find file 'Entry'
Failed to load 'Level None.Mylevel': Can't find file 'Entry' appError called:
Failed to enter Entry: Can't find file 'Entry'
Executing UObject::StaticShutdownAfterError
Executing USDLCLient::ShutDownAfterError
Signal: SIGIOT [iot trap]
Aborting.
Exiting.
Name subsystem shut down.
But I installed the map Entry.
What did I wrong or what've I forgotten??
Tnx in advance for any help

Oh sorry - I got the "Game of the Year Version" and the actual linux installer doesn't support it. So i got another question http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif.
What's the best way to uninstall UT??

Umm... nuke the dir.

The problem there is probaly that it can't find the right directory. All of the directorys are configured in unrealtournament.ini a page or two down... there has to be a line like 'dirs=../maps/*.unr' and a whole bunch more for it to find all the files... check to see if they are set right (maybe using wrong types of slases?)

Nomi... what distro and release are you using
I was running an unstable version of debian and the installer didn't like it.

I got that error once and it means that things are not installed right. Did the install go okay?

I'm through workin with unstable ... i like my stuff to *work* as I have tons of work to do...

http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif good luck

oh there is a "uninstall" script in your /usr/local/games/ut directory...

./uninstall should do the trick.

-ln

errr is there any difference between GOTY edition and the normal release? I'd say its just a money making scheme http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

Actually I dont know what the difference between the older versions and the GOTY edition exactly is.
The GOTY edition just includes RocketArena, BonusPack and ChaosUT and is patched to the version 436.
And the installer on loki doesnt work http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/frown.gif. U can install but not play.
I'd say its just a money making scheme.
I just paid 199ATS less then 30DM http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

i had the same problem but i have both versions. heres the fix.

install the GOTY edition in windows. the mpas are compressed now and the windows installer unpacks them. now install the game in linux, mount the windows partition with the win install. delete all the maps in your linux install. then copy all the map files from windows onto your linux maps dir. it seems like a lot of work but its worth it when performance beats winblows =). lastly you may want to edit your unrealtournament.ini file to include the goty addons by adding these lines to
[Engine.GameEngine]
ServerPackages=Relics
ServerPackages=EpicCustomModels
ServerPackages=TCowMeshSkins
ServerPackages=TNaliMeshSkins
ServerPackages=TSkMSkins
ServerPackages=De

enjoy!

Tnx BoboJ your tip worked. I did it the way u told me and that just worked fine with me. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
I am now able to play ut, there are few some things that cause some minor problems, but I hope that I'll find them soon.
Thank you all

loki just released the beta installer for GOTY edition so that may make it easier for you or fix whatever problems you have left,
