I just installed mandrake7.2
my system is as follows:

Tyan Tsunami Motherboard
Celeron 500
128megs pc100 ram
Emu10k1 (sblive)
lynksis nic card
15 gig hard drive
and of course the Voodoo3 2000 pci

I'm just wondering how to install the crazy thing. In my installation of Mandrake7.2 i choose to use XFree86 4.0.1 and right now all seems well in "2D land."

I have read the How-To, but there comes a point where it asks me to go into a redhat folder which doesn't exist in mandrake7.2 and I have read some other guys "howto" and it was from back in 98 and also on a redhat system.

If anyone can just tell me how they installed the Voodoo3 2k, with XFree86, under linux mandrake7.2 and list the files needed for download that would be great.

Thanks again.

I run Mandrake 7.2 with a Voodoo3 3500 card and i believe all is well. When i installed it asked me what version of X.

for me it listed:
Xfree86 4.0.1 w/ 3D Hardware Acceleration
Xfree86 4.0.1
Xfree86 3.3.6

that is probably not exact but i think its close. i selected the first option and all seems well in 3D land.

You can also check http://linux.3dfx.com for info there as well. They also have drivers as well.

Hope this helps.

I have also tried installing mandrake with the Xfree86 4.0.1 w/ 3D Hardware Acceleration
and when ever i try games like glTron it still doesn't work right... and the linux.3dfx.com web page seems only to have install instructions for RedHat.

Well I guess maybe I should check my box to see if it is utilizing my Voodoo card. I did forget that the linux.3dfx.com site only has instructions for RedHat.

I will look around some places and see what I can dig up but if anyone else knows how to get these cards working properly in Mandrake 7.2 please post instructions.

Thanx,

Zach
