quake 3 freezes

Before I bought Quake 3, I was playing the demo version which ran fine.. never froze, crashed once.

Since I installed Quake 3 proper version, it freezes linux (need to reboot) within ten minutes of playing. How can I get around this problem?

Mandrake 7.2
Creative Nvdiva TNT 1
Xfree 4.01 with ndivia drivers
333mhz celery.

I think that the full version and the demo install to different directories - check to be sure you didnt change driver versions, etc. with the new one. Is it giving any other error messages or anything? Can you switch to a different vc?

Have you installed point release 1.17?
