I basically want to stop using windows (dont we all) even for games. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen linux binaries/workarounds/wine tweaks to get the following games working.

System Shock 2
Deus Ex
Red Alert 2
Soldier of Fourtune
Max Payne
Diablo 2

...now I know what you're going to say, "Get on to Loki games and but them so they run natively!" and I would if I could afford it, but the thing is, I spent good money on these games for the windows version, I dont want to spent it all again just for linux versions. (I bought windows versions, because I thought games on linux were near impoosible...)

So if anyone can help me out here... much appreciated :D

www.transgaming.com (http://www.transgaming.com) has a section where they have a sort of "compatibility rating" for a bunch of games. RA2 is on there, with a 4/5 rating, and I'm pretty sure some of the others are there too.

Here's the list: http://www.transgaming.com/dosearch.php?order=working&showall=1

They are trying to get games like Max Payne working, major DirectX 8 problems...I haven't tried Deus Ex...yet, but you might be able to get it working using the wine Unreal howto's.

I will try System Shock 2 soon along with the Thief series, SOF should work and there is a lot of talk about Diablo 2 in the forums also...

My successes using WineX Binaries...
Team Fortress Classis (laggy, messed up menus)
Counter-Strike (laggy, messed up menus)
Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight (no 3D acceleration)
Fallout 2 (slow, crawls on world map)
Heroes of Might and Magic II - Gold (crashes often)
I'm considering pulling the daily snapshots from the CVS to see how much they've fixed every so often.

I still need Windows for work (at least until I get the Nortel Unix Client :))

P.S. Loki is no more :(

Tried Theif...won't work. Once the game starts and the .avi movies hit, it windows and tries to play the .avi seperatly... :(
