OK, anyone got the good ole doom download to run? I've got the commercial and wanna use the wad file from that but I can't even get the download version ot load. Anyone have any success. Looking to get a deathmatch next week with a bud if I can get it up on the Linux box.

Well, how bout the one from Linux.com? I've also got one from the ole Maximum Linux cd's. They both have read me's that say you can sub the commercial wad for the download one. but the files look dif. Either way I followed the included instructions but couldn't get the progs to install or run.

Um, this makes perfect sense. The registered version's wad files will have data for more levels (like the ones in everyhting but episode 1), and maybe more enemies. Just copy the registered version's wad file to where the game is looking for the other one. *Should* work, but of course I haven't tried it.

Well, I know THAT. I meant the files included in the download versions look different not the wads. the Maximum Linux cd version has more files than the download from Linux Central. And the install directions are slightly different, but I couldn't get either to work. Just wanna know if anyone has.

Oh, ok. I see now. Sorry, I haven't ever tried it -- and I only have the shareware Doom data files anyway.
