mobo and power supply

looking for a mbd that supports an amd k6-2 500 proc and a baby at power supply (for a diff. board). found out after a whole lotta physical effort and screwing around that the one i have isn't working. bah i hate hardware.

and another question i should probably know but dont....will a baby at mbd fit into a standard ATX case?

ATX And AT are different

the power supplys are totally different

there are some motherboards that have connectors for both, ie the can go into either an AT or ATX case

but if you have an ATX case, you HAVE to have an ATX power supply

and then you need either an ATX motherboard (these are the newer ones) or one of the ATX/AT motherboards (there are not very many of these made)

if you already have an AT motherboard, it might be cheaper to get an AT case, i have seen some people getting rid of them for purty cheap (shipping included) on the trading forums of www.arstechnica.com (http://www.arstechnica.com) and www.anandtech.com (http://www.anandtech.com) because almost all new boards are ATX and most people don't want the AT cases anymore

ok, that answers that question.
still looking for 2 socket 7 mbds that support amd k6-2 500 procs, and a baby at power supply. and a baby at case but that isn't as important at the moment

ok found the power supplies on price watchs (and cases) for cheap.
but the mbds i want are around $60...which is reasonable but i was really hoping to find one cheaper. i'd like 2 but if 1 is all i can find for now that's be peachy.

I picked up two socket 7 m/bds on ebay for 20 bucks each

i didnt see any on ebay that supports the K6-2 for less than $60....i might as well bite the bullet and buy from pricewatch. dangit.

i've got a motherboard at home that's a socket 7, i can try and figure out if it will support your chip if you wanna wait until tonight/tomorrow morning to hear about it. also got some RAM, and some peripherals (vid card, sb16 sound card, maybe a modem) some/all of which will work with linux.

im always interested in other junk....ive got a bunch of stuff already but if you have anything that seems especially interesting like video cards, nics, or something i might get that stuff too. im kind of collecting parts right now so i can put a few systems together to tinker with.

creative modem blaster di5660-1 56k modem. pnp, isa.

WHOOHOO! 14.4 8 bit cirrus modem! hey it's got jumpers.

umm, this thing: http://www.amjetmodem.com/v1456vqhp2.html (winmodem? it has no jumpers so i'd assume yes).

an FM-8818. has dip switches! looks old, couldn't find specs.

something with fccid eud5u9bri4095. has jumpers, but odn't know what speed it is.

so much for much in modems.

vid cards:

diamond stealth 64 pci with 8 megs of vram. pci.

s3 virge/dx. pci, looks like 4 megs of edo ram.

revolution 3d wram 8mb agp.

and some less interesting isa cards.

i might even have an extra NIC. don't know which or if until end of the week when i can fiddle with my other boxen.

gotta figure out prices later. saw on ebay a combo of that board and a 400mhz k6-2 that was already up to 70 bucks with 5 days left on the auction. and price somewhere as 120 for the board new.

also gotta figure out vid card prices. lemme know what stuff ya want, i'll be back around 8:30 EST, can figure more stuff out then.

i think 45 + shipping would be about right. shipping just whatever they charge for whatever box i have on hand i can fit it in. i think i can manage packing it safely with stuff on hand.
