multiple page threads

I'm always getting annoyed that when a thread is multiple pages long that when I click on it I'm always opening the first page and then have to wait till it's rendered before I can proceed to the last (most recent) page. Is there any way to change this behaviour so that the last page of a long thread is loaded by default??
I think this might be a UBB issue and you can't really change it, or can you??

with the new version of the ubb they list the pages on the oustide thread listing page so you jump directly to 1,2,3,4 etc.
