Is it possible to add that function? Most of us are probably much more likely to remember the name of member whose posts we're searching for, as oppossed to their number. Sorry, I'm pretty sure this has been asked before, I just can't recall the answer.

I just looked at the search thingy (I'm pretty new on this bbs) and I also think that it would be easier to search by name. Now I'm just thinking how could it be possible because people can change their publicly displayed name. If you search by the publicly displayed name, how can it find the other posts that the same person posted under a different name? Could be a little tricky? But Sensei, if it is possible, could you please add the feature?

You're right. I'd forgotten about the display-name issue. The ability to change your displayed name without creating an entirely new account didn't exist until a recent upgrade in the BBS software. (I think the function was actually added due to some user requests in this forum.) Buggery on the high seas! It probably makes my suggestion even harder to implement.

There are other BBS software packages that allow this and a whole lot more featuers which I have tried to get installed with LNO, but again, the people above me or not above me, but have a say, have said no.

Don't know why....my hands are tied on this issue.

Sensei, are they your web hosts/bosses/what? Why do they have such power over your site? (Really, I guess this is none of my business... so If you don't feel comfortable answering, or can't, or whatever, then I understand completely :) )

Is there anything that we (the members) can do to help? If so, let us know. I'm sure that most of us would be willing to apply pressure in the appropriate areas if we knew that it would make a difference.
