Keep in mind that I am a Super Newbie User (I blantantly took that term from someone else on this forum). Now that I have prefaced myself, let me explain my simple idea.
I think the NHFs are a great idea. Unfortunately, they don't allow the newbie to learn what they are doing. Unless I have missed something, I haven't found a NHF that explains the differences between:
RPMs/tar.gz/bin/etc
different shells (bash/pico/etc)
how to mount a drive (or what that even means)
common commands (i.e. ls/makedir/etc with options -a/-l/-F/etc)
Maybe we could have a series of intro-NHFs.
Part I could be the distro-NHF
Part II could be installation (including dual boot info)
Part III could be program installation basics (including a discussion on RPMs/bins/etc)
This NHF series would not only explain how, but what/why.
If you need a start as to what type of questions/issues to include, just ask and I'll supply 'em.
I'm just trying to be constructive.
Thanks for the web site/forum.
