Hi,
Sorry to bang on about this but I think the rating method needs a review.
Its a great idea (being able to know who is good and who isnt for help) but so many times I have seen grasshoppers ask some of the most mundane questions and some of the juniors really know their stuff.
As it stands everytime you post you get a point. If you post a question then you DONT know your stuff therefore if you start a topic then in the future it would be better if you dont get points for this. You should only get points if you REPLY to a post. However if you post in 'how i did it' then sure, a point should be awarded.
All too often people start a topic and then reply back with answers and further information on their problem. Surely its easy to change the cgi script to tell if a person starts a new topic then not only do they not get points for starting it but also they dont get any further points from just posting extra ingormation about their problem or asking more questions on it.
All this said, I am over 60 points and I am STILL NOT a grathhoppa :( but from my own arguements above I shoudlnt be as I just ask too many questions! (even my former PhD supervisor said the same thing - funny that ;) )
Cheesy
