Hey all! I've been doing some work on the CCAE site, setting up a search function and making the site actually look like a website, so pop on over and take a look. The search is an 'exact phrase' search, and there isn't much code, there, but it works.

And, I added links to commented and non-commented text-based code for each example.

It's slowly taking shape. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

Hey, LD, did kmj ever get you that code I sent him? Granted, it wasn't pretty, but it did contain a few lessons I had to dig through the DBI perldoc to learn, so I thought it oughta be worth SOMETHING! http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
<ps>The site's lookin' good!</ps>

I think so.. I've been kinda unorganized over the last week or so. My mind is elsewhere (thinking of a woman).. do you mind sending it to me again, just in case? http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif I would greatly appreciate it!!!

Sure, will do after I get home (don't have the code here w/me!) And don't worry, we've all had our heads scrambled by a girlie before! http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

Yeah, I only got it to him a couple of days ago, and I haven't even looked at it myself. I've only got one more project (a simple read-only TFTP client), and finals, and then I promise I'll stop being such an ***. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

It does look great, too. The site, that is...

I've got about 3 or 4 things I want to say, but I'm going to be nice.. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

it will be even better once we get more examples. I guess, though, it's better to get it fine tuned with a small amount, then to have to make major revisions after it gets filled up and stuff. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks dood. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif It still has some tweaking to do, but the interface is operational. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

I know very little about coding, so I'll just say this: That is one fine looking site. Seriously. It's one of the best I've seen in a long time.

::blush:: Thanks, Spacial.. it's far from done.. I just wanted to have something nice to look at, instead of the boring layout that it had before.

I'm hoping to put in some hours this weekend fixing the few alingment problems and such with the graphics, etc.. and enhance the cgi that searches the database..

One step at a time, I suppose. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif

If it looks that good now, I can't wait to see it when it's done.

My quarter's ending after this weekend, and then I'm going to visit family for a few days. Hopefully that means I'll be able to get those java TCP and UDP examples up in just a little over a week. I'm really hoping that now I'll be able to devote alot more time to working on this project, and stopping being such a lamer. I've gotten a number of e-mails from people willing to help, and I just want everyone to know how much I appreciate it.

Dru (or any other willing javafiend)- I was hoping you'd be able to take a quick glance at those java examples I have, when I get them done and before I put them up, since they were actually the first java programs I wrote. I don't want to put up crappy examples.

kmj:

do not fear. We are in no rush, nor no position to worry about lack of attention at this time. You have had things that were much more important, and they require more immediate attention. I think I would actually be worried if you were ignoring school necessities, and focusing too much on this.

So, you are in the right, my friend.

I haven't done anything to CCAE since the initial editing of the graphics. I still don't know what happened to the python code examples that were sent to me.

I even remember looking at them now, but I can't find them on my HD anywhere.

I did go on a cleaning binge one day, and may have done a mean mean thing.

Wonk.

Thanks.. I haven't actually touched it in a LLOONNGG time.. It is really lacking in code examples.. I should spend some time today and this week adding some more, but I find myself pushing it off into the background.

K. Anything you got to contribute is qool with me.. I kinda wish that I was a little more focused on it, but it's just not been something I have wanted to mess with lately.

Kmj is very right, that we need the site at a centralized location where anyone who is involved with the site can add to it.. right now it's on my geocities account, and I don't wanna give out my password to anybody else, so it's kinda me who does the adding.. not that that is bad, I'm not conplaining... it would just be nice if kmj felt like messing with it, he could do so easily.

That's a nice site, and a great idea. (Probably have been other posts on it. but this is this first I've seen, Sawwy). I'll probably do up some examples myself and send them in to you. My languages of choice would be C++ and Perl(which I'm learning as I go http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif ) Just a small question... if more... "advanced" topics are being covered. Still looking for detailed commenting on things that should already be known before getting into these kinda topics? (ie. if covering OOP, need detailed commenting for how functions work?)

Hmm... I'm doing a bunch of "utility" classes for my current project. (C++) When I'm done or want to take a break, I'll pick out any that look like they could be useful, rewrite them to be more generic, annotate them, and submit.
