I want to familiarize myself with the following languages:
Prolog
Sql (database thingy ?)
Sgml (kinda like html?)
Occam
Does anyone know of any compilers for linux ? And if not then... *shudder* I guess I'd have to use windows. =)

From my bit of knowledge -
SQL - use MySQL (free rdbms) SQL is not "compiled" per se.
SGML - again, not a compiled thing - search on freshmeat for "SGML parsers"
Don't know squat 'bout Prolog or Occam, sorry.

SQL - Lots. PostgreSQL is good (and my personal favourite). There's also: MySQL, mSQL, and ports of most commercial databases: Oracle, Sybase, DB2, etc.
Occam - Yes, I know these exist. Check freshmeat.net

Check out the LDP (at www.linuxdoc.org (http://www.linuxdoc.org) of course) for sgml. In particular, check out the HOWTO-HOWTO.
What is Occam? It sounds promising http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
