My question is close to Seb's question concerning the IPC$ password request when using a Linux server on a Windows network. I've added a linux file server to a windows PTP network that uses multiple windows OSs (95, 98, Me, and 2000). I've added a user to the network with the same username and password as the user on the server. The problem I've run into is I can only gain access to the server on the 95 machines. The 98, Me, and 2000 machines all ask for the password for IPC$ and when I enter the correct password I get an error telling that either that password was not accepted or I can not log on the the server from this machine. Is this a windows configuration problem or a samba issue? Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
