Hi,
I installed Debian (Woody) on my 2nd machine (which will be used as a server and router).
I additionally installed the Roaring Penguin for PPPoE DSL connection.
it was pretty easy even for a newbie like me, and I was able to get a connection up in no time. Unfortunately this connection didn't work at all.
After typing adsl-start he seems to connect just fine but when I try to ping an ip it doesn't work -> 100% packet loss. When I try to ping a domain I don't get any output at all. I can ping my own inet ip address with no problems, but any other ip fails. Even pinging the remote server (62.225.245.141) fails with 100% packet loss.
adsl-status resonds this:

adsl-status: Link is up and running on interface ppp0

I just found out I got exactly the same problem with Mandrake 8.2 installed on a different machine in the same network.
So the problem can be neither the computer nor the distribution und it can't be the provider caue a friend told me he got it working and Roraring Pengiun and he didn't have to change anything special. Looks like I'm just too stupid for it :/

BINGO!

What is confusing me are these:

10.0.0.2 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 UH 1 0 0 sl0
0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 U 1 0 0 sl0

Looks like the sl0 interface setup the default gateway, but why is that even in there?? Is that there before you use adsl-start?

Yes, the interface is there before I use adsl-start.
I'll try to find out what it is myself. Could it be an ISDN card or a wireless LAN card?

I haven't had to use that interface yet.
sl0-SLIP interface-serial line IP.
