I was partitioning a new 60 gig drive last night, and I installed redhat 7.2 on it. Everything went fine, problem is that now on my command prompt, it says this

mychl@cn-XXXXXX-a:> Which is the name of my PC on Comcast's network. I don't want that crap in my prompt. It used to say mychl@linux:> I checked my hosts file and all that, there is no mention of cn-XXXXXX-a anywhere in there. So how do I get rid of that?????

Thankyou , perhaps rephrasing the question. Why did the redhat install grab info off the network, I specifiacally told it not to use any DHCP, so why did it pick up my PC name on the Comcast Network??

Thanks again...

From /etc/HOSTNAME maybe?

the /h variable will give you hostname.
