Network Newbie with Suse 7.2

I'm a total newbie here and looking for help with dchp, or basically any networking tips for linux. I'm working (okay, trying to work) on a network for an elementary school with 7 win95 computers and a suse server. My colleague cant get dchp to work. we can ping the server, but thats it.

Unfortunately, this is totally new ground for me, if you can help, would be forever grateful :)

Only 7 machines.... skip the dhcp and set the ip's manually. I don't like DHCP, and since 7 pc's shuldn't be that hard to keep track of, well, it's just easier to not use dhcp...especially if you can't get it working!!! my $.02
