Ip alias.

I am trying to set up IP_alias on corel linux 2.2.16.The machine is up and running on the network. I checked in the /lib/modules/2.2.16/ipv4 folder for a ip_alias module and there was none.So I thought maybe it was already compiled in the kernel. but when i type 'insmod eth0:0 xx.xx.xx.xx' i get error 'No Such device exists'. I know the eth0 is right cause when I type 'eth0 xx.xx.xx.xx' i can change the ip address.
Any help will be great!!!
