Redhat 6.2
sorry, can't believe I didn't mention that before, hehe. I upgraded from 2.2.13 to 2.2.17 kernel, as well.
..it's almost as if it's not being "powered on" - I don't get a green light.. but it will work under Windows 98, so I know the card isn't bad. I typed in cardmgr and nothing happened though, hehe..

heres a guess: you didn't add the card support in the kernel. I added card type X, and when i put in a 2nd NIC (also of card type X) is was found immiadiatly. i just needed to ifconfig eth1

ahh, you're thinking of ethernet cards.. which they thought of too.. but i'm talking about pcmcia ethernet cards.. which they didn't think of, and there is no support in the kernel for that :(
