can i still share my windows resources with my linux workstation? If so, is samba installed in linux (Redhat7.1)workstation by default or i have to download it from the internet manually.
i have a linux (Redhat7.1)workstation on my LAN and my server is a windows box running on win2000 prof.So far, i can get the internet from my linux (Redhat7.1)work station but i cannot network it with my win2000 server.....any ideas?
I have spent weeks researching on a solution for this, unistalled linux-reinstalled it....what is happening. Can somebody out there please direct me to the right place or right documentation!
NB: I am a newbie....duh

I believe if you take the RH7.1 Workstation install option, Samba is not installed. You can check this by running this command:
rpm -q samba
Here are sites that might help.
Samba (http://samba.netfirms.com/)
Samba.org (http://www.samba.org)
For the internet stuff, what kind of net connection do you have? dial up? DSL? Cable modem? If it is DSL or cable modem, what machine is it attached to - the Linux machine or the Windows machine?

 I am on a cable modem connection and it is attached to an emachine which acts as my server which runs on windows 2000 prof. edition.
I tried yesterday to download the samba that is found on samba.org and installed it but i got a error message that there was already a copy in the computer.I went gnome RPM manager and sure there was another samba package and i checked out the status, it was installed!
Well i carried out the command that you told me to and what i got was that the samba package is not installed.
Now, i am at a fix and i need help here,i am going to unistall the other samba package that i tried installing and try working from what i have on my linux(redhat).
By the way, the version of the samba that i foud in the gnome RPM manager was samba-2.0.7-36! that makes it the latest right! But how do i get to use it
I am runnin out of hair to pull out!
Help please i am a newbie!

 Ok guys, my hair is finnaly growing back. I went into my Gnome RPM manager in redhat7.1 and unistalled the samba package that was there originally then i went ahead and installed the samba package that i downloaded from the website.Everything went well and now i can see my linux box on my network neighborhood on both my server(win2000) and my win98(workstation).BUT i cannot browse my linux box!
Whenever i go to click on it to see what folders are being shared i get a message that(Pearl is not accessible, the network path was not found)....Pearl is the name of my linux box.
Now, i have so far made some changes on my samba config file but i am not sure if i am doing it right.Tomorrow i shall post the contents of my config file and may be you guys can tell me whats going on here.
All the same any ideas so far!
