2.4.2 NIc problem

I posted this to teh tech area also. I just reinstalled rh70 and my nics work great (my 3com905b gets the dhcp info from my cablemodem NP) I just compiled 2.4.2 and it refuses to get the dhcp info anymore. The error I get when linux brings up the interface is "no valid DHCP responce recieved".

I boot by old kernel back up and it works fine. Any ideas why??

i have no clue, all i can suggest is to leave the defaults in the networking section of make xconfig, it `should` work if not, consult allen cox
