sharing personal resources

i want to create personal shares on my liux system. in SMB.CONF there is a section for "home' how do I tell samba where the personal share DIRs are and do I have to pre-create the DIRS for each user?

I believe that when a user from that system logs in to the samba machine under their user name, they automatically get into their own home directory.
